Mission
Trip - August 2-8, 2009
The Youth in Action (YIA) Mission Trip to
Kentucky’s Appalachian Mountains: August 2-8, 2009.
The person that successfully organized the
youth's mission trip to Kentucky three years ago, Joanne Waters, is managing
the details of our upcoming YIA trip. She is lining up our work, such as
doing repairs on a hospital, demolishing and clean up of a shed, painting
homes and more! Joanne is tied to St John's by her heart when attending
school in Kentucky keeps her away.
YIA will be staying in a retreat center in
Carlisle, KY called Cedar Hill Retreat Center. To view the retreat center
where we will be staying, please check out the retreat’s link at
http://cedarhillretreats.org/This
Episcopal Retreat Center is set in a wooded area with hiking near by... and
mission work to do around every corner.
We are very blessed to have Sallie and
Richard Devine "sign up" to be chaperones for this Mission Trip.
The youth are committing their summer
vacations, money and sweat equity into this trip. They are still in the
process of raising funds for this trip. Not only do they have to cover gas,
lodging and food, they also have to buy materials to do the necessary work.
Anyone wishing to encourage our youth with a monetary donation or
sponsorship would be greatly appreciated
